Lottery Number Patterns - The Stuff Men Are Made Of

Lottery Number Patterns

Lottery Number Advisor

For over a week now, we’ve been discussing HOT numbers and Cold numbers and, in the process, we discovered some lottery trends that were previously unknown to anyone; including myself. I was previously unaware of these and they came as very pleasant surprise. In fact, I used the last post to talk about nothing else. It’s been an amazing week.

As great as these discoveries were, their importance still comes in second to the topic we are about to discuss; Persistence.  In the last post we talked about the need for Serious Lottery Players to play consistently; to play the odds over the long haul. But, making a recommendation to play consistently would be foolhardy and foolish if it weren’t for the fact that Lottery Number Patterns exhibit a characteristic that I call Persistence. If lottery trends were here today and gone tomorrow, then ‘Playing Consistently’ would simply translate into ‘Losing Consistently’.

So, are HOT number trends of the ‘Here today, gone tomorrow’, ‘Fly by night.’ variety or are they more of ‘The Stuff Men Are Made Of’, stand on your own two feet,  John Wayne variety? Can they really Improve Your Chances of Winning the Lottery? Over the next couple of days, we’ll be using the Lottery Number Advisor to investigate these questions.

Lottery Strategies - Playing the Odds

In the last post Lottery Statistics -Gold in Them Thar Hills , we examined a graph of the Ratio of HOT numbers to Cold numbers for the 6 number lotteries in the US and Canada. I’ve repeated the graph below for convenience. I pointed out that the graph revealed some opportunities for Serious Lottery Players in certain states and provinces. Today, I’m going to discuss the three lotteries that are far above the trend line; DE635, TX654 and NY659.

Lottery Strategies

I stated that, because of the position of these lotteries on the graph, Serious Lottery Player in these states should put more emphasis on the inclusion of HOT numbers in their Play List. So, what did I mean by ‘more emphasis’?

For example, if you played the Delaware 635 Multi-Win Lotto, and you never paid much attention to HOT numbers before, you might start by putting the top 10 HOT numbers in your Play List every drawing. Or, if you always include the top 5 HOT numbers in your Play List, you might change your strategy and include the top 10 HOT numbers in your Play List instead. This, or course, applies to the TX654 and the NY659 lotteries as well. Any variation of this theme would be placing more emphasis on HOT numbers.

But, there is one more very important point to make here; Consistency. The high placement of these three lotteries on the graph didn’t suddenly materialize overnight. The results of one lottery drawing didn’t cause this. It is the result of the performance of HOT numbers over hundreds of lottery drawings. It’s not a fluke; it’s a trend. It is the result of consistent performance biased in favor of HOT numbers over Cold numbers.

Now, I’m sure that some of you will try this strategy in the next drawing and, if it doesn’t work, you will discard it. If you do, you missed the whole point of the last paragraph; consistency. To truly be a Serious Lottery Player you must understand that you are playing the odds. Whether it’s horse racing or poker, playing the odds doesn’t mean you are going to win every race or every hand.  What it does mean is that, over the long haul, you will outperform the average player.

A poker player doesn’t have the luxury of a computer at the table but if you play the ponies, dogs or the lottery the computer is essential. And, a computer is just a boat anchor if you don’t have good software. So, get LONA™, the Lottery Number Advisor on your computer and start playing smart.

Lottery Statistics - Gold in Them Thar Hills

In the last post Lottery Statistics - The Forgotten Lotteries, we looked at some examples of HOT and Cold numbers for the smallest lotteries. Even though the ratio of HOT to Cold wasn’t 2 to 1, the ratio’s were big enough that they cannot be ignored.  Now, the moderate size lotteries are feeling neglected.  So today, I decided to create a graph of the HOT/Cold ratios for all the 6 number US and Canadian lotteries. I did not expect to be surprised.

Lottery Statistics

This graph shows the how the ratio of HOT to Cold numbers varies as a function of lottery size. The basic trend line shows exactly what we expected; the ratio of HOT numbers to Cold numbers increases as the size of the lottery increases. At first, I didn’t pay much attention to the points far above and below the trend line. But, as I was writing this post, I knew, that eventually, I would have to deal with them.

When I finally figured out their meaning I was surprised and amazed. I had discovered something I never knew before. There was gold in them thar hills. A few of the data points are far off the line; both above and below. These uncooperative data points actually identified some great opportunities to Improve Your Chances of Winning the Lottery.

For example, there are three lotteries that are far above the trend line; DE635, TX654 and NY659. This means that more HOT numbers than one would expect are hitting in those lotteries. So, the Serious Lottery Player in those states should put more emphasis on the inclusion of HOT numbers in their Play List.

Also, there are about 6 lotteries that are far below the trend line; DC639, WI639, MA646, QUB649, ONT649 and FL653.  This means that there are fewer HOT numbers hitting in those lotteries than one would expect. So, the Serious Lottery Player in those states (and provinces) should put less emphasis on the inclusion of HOT numbers in their Play List.

Lottery Statistics - The Forgotten Lotteries

Lottery Statistics

In the last post Lottery Statistics - Some Like It HOT, we looked at some examples of lotteries where HOT Numbers hit twice as often as Cold Numbers. You may have noticed that the size of these lotteries were large; 59, 54 and 49 numbers.  But, what about the lotteries that are the smallest in size; let’s say in the range of 25 to 31. That’s the topic for today’s post.

If, in the next 100 drawings, 6 numbers are drawn out of a pool of 50 numbers, a total of 600 numbers will be drawn.  Therefore, each number would occur 12 times on the average. Of course, we know from Lottery Statistics that some will be cold and hit fewer times and some will be hot and hit more times. But, if 6 numbers are drawn out of a pool of 25 numbers, each number will occur on the average of 24 times. The smaller the size of the lottery, the more often each number will be drawn.

So, how does this affect our discussion of HOT and Cold numbers?  First, the difference between the number of Hits for HOT numbers and Cold numbers will shrink.  Instead of a difference of 2 to 1, it might be 1.5 to 1.  Second, it doesn’t change our Lottery Strategies at all.  Because, the impact of a 1.5 to 1 ratio of HOT numbers to Cold numbers for the smaller lottery is the same as 2 to 1 for the larger lottery. So, regardless of the size of the lottery, to Improve Your Chances you must include HOT numbers in your Play List.

Now, let’s look at some examples of HOT and Cold numbers statistics for smaller sized lotteries. Actually, this is quite nice to see the smaller lotteries get some attention.  Typically, the smaller lotteries are treated like orphans because the size of their lottery jackpots is small compared to the larger lotteries. Therefore, consider this post to be my stand in defense of fair play, honesty and decency for those less fortunate,  forgotten lotteries in this cruel world.

In the PA530 lottery the coldest number hit 71 times and the Hottest number hit 113 times. The ratio of HOT to Cold is 1.59.

In the WV625 lottery the coldest number hit 74 times and the Hottest number hit 107 times. The ratio of HOT to Cold is 1.46.

In the WI531 lottery the coldest number hit 93 times and the Hottest number hit 135 times. The ratio of HOT to Cold is 1.45.

In the MN531 lottery the coldest number hit 91 times and the Hottest number hit 132 times. The ratio of HOT to Cold is 1.45.

These Lottery Statistics don’t lie, so don’t forget to add those HOT numbers to your Play List.

In the last post Lottery Statistics - That’s the Rest of the Story , we observed that HOT Numbers hit twice as often as Cold Numbers in the IL652 lottery. In some lotteries, it’s more than twice as often and in other lotteries it’s less. So, using the Lottery Number Advisor, I’m going to showcase some other lotteries where the HOT Numbers are cooking.

In the NY659 lottery the coldest number hit 10 times and the Hottest number hit 28 times. There were 21 HOT Numbers that hit more than twice as often as the coldest number.

In the TX654 lottery the coldest number hit 17 times and the Hottest number hit 43 times. There were 14 HOT Numbers that hit more than twice as often as the coldest number.

In the NJ649 lottery the coldest number hit 22 times and the Hottest number hit 50 times. There were 8 HOT Numbers that hit more than twice as often as the coldest number.

So, if you like HOT Numbers, these lotteries are piping HOT, right out of the oven.
