Lottery Strategies #5 - This Isn’t T-ball
For those of you who haven’t been following my recent posts, you should go back and read Lottery Strategies #1 thru 4. Those will set the stage for today’s topic; Persistence .
Some of you have objected to the strategy I outlined in Lottery Strategies #3. The objections went something like this:
Just because a lottery number had a dry spell doesn’t mean that dry spell will continue.
True, it doesn’t have to continue and, over the long haul, it won’t continue. But, for the lottery, the long haul is tens of thousands of years and the short term is our lifetime.
In the short term, Lottery Number Patterns like this persist for months and even years before the inevitable pendulum swings back the other way. I call this Persistence and it is happening in every lottery.
I’m a pragmatic sort of guy. If I see something that will give me an advantage, I don’t necessarily need a mathematical formula that predicts what will happen with exactitude. You don’t have to understand exactly why something works in order to take advantage of it. I think I’m on pretty safe ground when I say that the vast majority of people do not understand the mathematics that describes the operation and performance of the tires on their car. And, yet they still drive their cars every day.
So, what does Persistence look like. Previously, I stated that lottery number 45 in the Lotto Texas, 6/54 lottery was a good candidate to remove from your Play List. This wasn’t a snap decision made on the spur of the moment. It was a decision made because of the numbers past performance; a pattern; a trend.
In the 247 drawings from 4/26/06 to 9/3/08 this is what happened to lottery number 45.
To begin with, it didn’t hit for 37 drawings. Later, it didn’t hit for 18 drawings; then 19 drawings. See the pattern? See the trend? Now, some would say you should ignore what is right before your eyes because, after all, it’s a random draw. But, let’s say we were gamblers and played the odds. If we did, this is what we would have gotten.
Later, it didn’t hit for 29 drawings; then 43 drawings; then 36 drawings. Now, it’s on a 20 drawing dry spell. This pattern or trend has continued for 247 drawings; that’s 2 years and 5 months! Persistence.
NO! This isn’t T Ball. I didn’t choose Lotto Texas so I could easily hit this one out of the park. This type of pattern or trend is happening in every lottery, everywhere! It’s not a fluke. If you don’t believe me, go look for yourself.
This topic deserves some more attention. So, don’t miss the next post when we discuss why Lottery Number Patterns exist.
Let me know what you think.
