I want to add a new lottery. On the Creat New Lottery Window the LOttery Size is grayed with 25, The Numbers Drawn is grayed at 5, and the First Draw Date is grayed at 7/6/2006. How can I change or reset those grayed out windows?

Sorry for the problem. But, If you press the Help button on the lower right of the screen you will receive detailed instructions on how to Create New Lottery File. This is true for all of the LONA tools.
In your case, the only problem is that after you enter the New File Name, you forgot to press Enter. This enables the rest of the fields in the form.

Question. I own a few lottery software programs and am a programmer myself. I like to test all my software so I can tell if 1) is it worth the effort and 2) can I do better creating something myself. My question is this. I have one program that makes number selections based on certain criteria. For example, if this software picks 13 selections in a 6/39 game (33% of all the numbers), it should perform better than selecting 2 of the winning numbers which would be pure chance (2/6 and 13/39 both equal 33%). If a selection system cannot perform better than pure chance over a number of draws (say 300), than its probably not worth using. I’m curious on your comments about this and back-testing systems. Hi Rob,
Right on! Everything in LONA has been back-tested, front-tested, side-ways-tested; you name it. Even though it appears that you are not a LONA owner, I’m sure you do quite well. At least, for the 2 or 3 decent lottery software products on the market, it is less a question about which software a player is using and more about the player and their approach.
Perhaps you might look favorably upon some advice.
First, using a 13 number play list in a 39 number game is aggressive in the extreme. It is exceedingly difficult to get all 6 winning numbers in a list that small. I recommend the 80% rule. This means a your list would contain about 30-31 numbers. Further, using trend analysis improves the quality of those play lists.
This strategy is the best compromise between playing Full Odds and being over the top aggressive. It still improves your odds dramatically and places you in the running to win in many more drawings. That’s what makes it fun; being in the running to win as often as possible while having better odds than anyone else playing the game.
Second, I’m not sure you are doing this so take the comment for what it is worth. Playing the same strategy for 300 drawings straight is probably not the best idea. Why? Because all lotteries are dynamic and constantly changing. The strongest trends will ebb and flow many times over this many drawings. It is important to improve a players consistency that he be flexible and be able to identify trends and take advantage of them.

As you may now know, I am the proud owner of your software and I really like it especially the bet structuring section which is something I’ve been studying for years. Let me give you some background. I live is Wisconsin and there are 2 lotteries that play everyday and 3 that play twice a week (2 of them being Mega Millions and Poweball which I try to avoid). The other is called Megabucks. That one, which is 6/49 I do play and play quite aggressively. I hedge my wagers 3 different ways (1/3 of my wagers are aggressive 1/3 of my wagers at about average 1/3 of my wagers very conservative). Megabucks has a total of 2001 draws since it started and has never changed. It has always been a 6/49 game. In another program I own, they suggest removing wagers where there are either 2 or more sets of consecutive numbers or any one wager or, any wager that has 3 or more consecutive numbers. In the 2001 draws in Megabucks, this has only happened 216 and 93 times respectively which is another way I like to eliminate my wagers. I used your CompuPick on Saturday with all of the filters and I enjoyed the setup except for the numerous consecutive numbers on quite a few of the wagers. Is there any way I can eliminate those wagers or do I have to ask for more games than I’m going to play and just cross off the wagers where there are too many consecutive numbers? Also, have you ever considered removing consecutive numbers as part of your software? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Congratulations! Your approach is spot on.
CompuPick: Compupick generates wagers from you play list and checks to see if it meets the restriction requirements you have set. If the wager does not meet the requirements, it is tossed and the process repeats. So, it is possible that some of the wagers will have two or three adjacent numbers.
If you don’t like the wagers you see, just click the Generate button again and again and again, until you see wagers that meet your requirements.
I agree that three adjacent numbers is pretty remote and removing such wagers from play is a good bet. But, I’m not as enthusiastic about removing wagers with two adjacent numbers. These occur about 10% of the time. If you Generate 20 wagers from a play list and two of them have two adjacent numbers in them, that’s about right. If four such wagers appear, then I would hit the Generate button again.

When it comes to 2 adjacent numbers, I don’t eliminate them unless there are 2 sets of them on the same wager. An example would be 1-2-10-30-44-45. In this case, I would toss out the wager due to having 2 consecutive sets (1-2 & 44-45).

Today I tried to use your advice on not having more than 10% of adjacent numbers in generated wagers. I could not get any wagers generated that had only 10%. I tried generating wagers for 2 hours, and each time I had a minimum of 5 sets of 2 adjacent numbers each time. Is this normal, or if I keep generating wagers, will I eventally get to wagers that have no more than 120%?
Hi Mary,
First, the 10% comment was a ball park figure; not a hard and fast rule. The 10% referred to the number of wagers that would contain 2 adjacent numbers. So, if you generated 20 wagers then you might expect that 2 of the wagers had 2 adjacent numbers in the wager.
For example, 1-2-13-29-35-47 and 7-19-20-39-41 each have one pair of adjacent numbers.
But, what you must realize is the number of wagers generated that have adjacent numbers in them is dependent on the size of your play list and its make up. For example, if you are playing a 6/47 game and using a 38 number play list and large blocks of those numbers are all consecutive (like 21-22-23-24-25-26-27-28-29-30-31) then, it will be very difficult to generate any wager that doesn’t have at least one set of adjacent numbers. What you should be more interested in is any wager that has two sets of adjacent numbers. A small percent of the winning wagers in the lottery’s history will look like that. Plus, the more wagers you generate the more likely you will see wagers that multiple adjacent pairs.
The make up of your play list is also a consideration. For example, suppose you were playing a 30 number game and were using a 15 number play list. If these are the numbers in your play list (1-3-5-7-9-11-13-15-17-19-21-23-25-27-29) then, it would be impossible to generate any wagers with adjacent pairs.
