Lottery Predictions - Cycles and Flexibility

Lottery Predictions - Cycles and Flexibility

Lottery Number AdvisorOn December 11,2009, I started a Lottery Predictions series of post with Lottery Predictions, Ghostly Patterns and Chaos Theory. This entire series of post is a must read for any serious lottery player as it lays out the entire play list development process. This is the seventh post in that series and demonstrates just how dynamic and flexible Cycles really are.

As shown in the last post, including adjacent Cycles can assist in covering the possibility of any Chaotic behavior that might be going on in your lottery. But, Cycles are so flexible that you can automatically include adjacent Cycles. So, in this post I’ll introduce you to the concept of Span.

In the last post, we looked at the graphs of three Cycles, Cycle 14, 15 and 16. But, we don’t have to do that. We could look at just one graph that is a combination of all three. This would be called Cycle 14-16. This Cycle is said to have a Span of three; it includes three Cycles in one graph. Below is a graph of Cycle 45-47, the best Cycle with a Span of three for the Lotto Texas lottery. The last drawing occurred on February 6, 2010.

Lotto Texas Cycle 35-47

Lotto Texas Cycle 35-47

Cycle 45-47 has produced 1.93 hits per drawing on the average over the lottery’s history and will provide 14 numbers to our play list. Randomly selecting 14 numbers would only produce 1.56 hits per drawing on the average. Therefore, Cycle 45-47’s performance is 24% better than random number selection. Not bad!

Not only does this point out the enormous flexibility of Cycles but also it’s power. How many of you would have ever expected, let alone spend the man months of analysis necessary to make this discovery, that Cycle 45-47 would have been the best performing Cycle for Lotto Texas? That’s the beauty of LONA. She leaves no stone unturned to find out what’s really going on in your lottery.

This is just another example of how LONA can provide you with information to improve your chances of winning the lottery.

Lottery Predictions - Steady as She Goes

Lottery Statistics

In lottery parlance, a Longshot is any lottery number that hasn’t hit in the last ten drawings. Most professional gamblers wouldn’t normally bet on a Longshot, but that is not so in the lottery. In the lottery, 25% to 40% of the winning numbers are Longshots. Therefore, you ignore them at your own peril.

On September 30, 2008, I wrote a post called, Lottery Statistics - The Amazing Race that rather emphatically made this point. I thought it would be nice to go back, almost a year, and see if the Longshot trends I identified then are still performing today. This post should go a long way in silencing the critics who claim these are just fleeting trends that you can’t count on.

The key to understanding the importance of including Longshots in your play list, is that most of the time you have absolutely no chance of winning the lottery jackpot if they are not included! A sobering thought. To prove to you that this is just a true today as it was a year ago, I’ll show you some THEN and NOW comparisons. Lottery statistics labeled THEN are from 9/30/08. Those labeled NOW are from 8/27/09

THEN - TX654 - Lotto Texas - On the average, it takes at least 1.82 Longshots to win the Lottery Jackpot. This is 30.3% of the winning numbers. In 92 drawings out of 100, it takes at least 1 Longshot to win the Lottery Jackpot.

NOW - TX654 - Lotto Texas - On the average, it takes at least 1.79 Longshots to win the Lottery Jackpot. This is 29.8% of the winning numbers. In 91 drawings out of 100, it takes at least 1 Longshot to win the Lottery Jackpot.

THEN - MM556 - MegaMillions - On the average, it takes at least 2.07 Longshots to win the Lottery Jackpot. This is 41.4% of the winning numbers. In 94 drawings out of 100, it takes at least 1 Longshot to win the Lottery Jackpot.

NOW - MM556 - MegaMillions - On the average, it takes at least 2.03 Longshots to win the Lottery Jackpot. This is 40.6% of the winning numbers. In 92 drawings out of 100, it takes at least 1 Longshot to win the Lottery Jackpot.

THEN - FL653 - Florida Lotto - On the average, it takes at least 1.80 Longshots to win the Lottery Jackpot. This is 30% of the winning numbers. In 90 drawings out of 100, it takes at least 1 Longshot to win the Lottery Jackpot.

NOW - FL653 - Florida Lotto - On the average, it takes at least 1.77 Longshots to win the Lottery Jackpot. This is 29.5% of the winning numbers. In 89 drawings out of 100, it takes at least 1 Longshot to win the Lottery Jackpot.

THEN - NY659 - New York Lotto - On the average, it takes at least 2.07 Longshots to win the Lottery Jackpot. This is 34.5% of the winning numbers. In 94 drawings out of 100, it takes at least 1 Longshot to win the Lottery Jackpot.

NOW - NY659 - New York Lotto - On the average, it takes at least 2.03 Longshots to win the Lottery Jackpot. This is 33.8% of the winning numbers. In 93 drawings out of 100, it takes at least 1 Longshot to win the Lottery Jackpot.

The obvious consistency of these trends over the last year with several lotteries substantiates what I’ve been saying. Lottery number patterns and trends are persistent; you can count on them. These, THEN and NOW comparisons should make believers out of all of you. If they don’t, then there is probably no hope for you. But, facts are facts and it is difficult to ignore them forever.

Winning the Lottery - Before Your Very Eyes

Winning the Lottery

Lottery Number Advisor

Thanks for the emails I received from the last post. Feedback is the grist for my Lotto Blog mill, as is the case today. The emails got me thinking about how the odds of winning the lottery jackpot change during the drawing itself. If you can imagine for a moment, millions of people, tickets in hand, watching a lotto drawing on TV. As each number is drawn, the fortunes of millions of lottery ticket holders are changing before your very eyes.

Here’s what I mean. Let’s use the Lotto Texas 6/54 lottery in this example. Of course, if someone doesn’t buy a ticket their odds of winning the jackpot are zero. If someone buys 1 ticket, their odds of winning the jackpot are 1:25,827,165. Now, as the drawing begins things get very interesting.

Suppose you’re sitting in Austin, in front of your TV, watching the drawing. The first number is drawn. You check your ticket and your ticket has that number. What just happened? You’re now in a different league. There are 53 balls left in the machine and you need 5 of those 53 to win the lottery jackpot. Suddenly, your playing a 5/53 game and your odds of winning the lottery jackpot improved to 1:2,869,685. That’s 9 times better than before the drawing started just moments earlier.

So, right there, in that instant, you’re pumped and awaiting that next number to pop out of the machine, while most players in Texas watched their odds of Winning the Lottery jackpot drop to zero.

Winning the Lottery - Its Nice to Have an Edge

Winning the Lottery

Lottery Number AdvisorLets start putting the Lottery Footprint (LFP) to work on a real lottery. I’ve selected Lotto Texas because it is closest to the example lottery I used in the last post. If you’re a newcomer and haven’t the slightest, then go back and read Winning Lotto Strategies - Donald Trump Has a Pretty Big Shoe, to bring yourself up to speed.

In the TX654 lottery there are 25,827,165 possible wagers. Therefore, the denominator in the LFP is 25.827165. So, for the typical player, spending $25 dollars, his LFP is:

LFP = 25/25.827165 = 0.97

But, you’re not the typical player, you use LONA™, your Lottery Number Advisor. Using the various Lottery Tools, you’ve created a 40 number Play List. A 40 number Play List has 3,838,380 possible wagers. So, if you also spend $25, your LFP is much better.

LFP = 25/3.83838 = 6.51

Even though your cost was the same, your Lottery Footprint is much bigger; you have much better coverage.

This raises an interesting question, How much would the typical player have to spend to achieve the same LFP as you? The answer is:

Dollars = 6.51 x 25.827165 = $168

WOW! The typical lottery player in Texas would have to spend $168 to achieve the same coverage, the same LFP that you have.

Isn’t it nice to have an edge? But, hold on. We’re not done with LFP yet. In fact, we’re just getting started. Now that we have a way to compare Lottery Strategies, lets use that edge to cut a little deeper tomorrow.
